P&ID to PLCCreator: Export I/O Lists as Device IO CSV
This kept coming up: "I extracted my I/O list, now I need to get it into PLCCreator." The manual path is extract → Excel → reformat → import. The new path is extract → export → import.
How it works
- Upload a P&ID to Tagsight
- Review the extracted instruments, fix anything that needs it
- Click Export → PLCCreator
- Pick your PLC architecture
- Import the CSV into PLCCreator
That's it. No reformatting spreadsheets.
Architecture options
Tagsight needs to know your PLC setup to structure the file correctly:
- Single rack — everything on one local rack. Typical for skid packages, small systems.
- Single fieldbus — remote I/O on one fieldbus. Mid-size plants.
- Multiple fieldbuses — distributed I/O across multiple networks. Large plants, area-based layouts.
Signal mapping
The export maps ISA signal classes to standard electrical types:
| Class | Type |
|---|---|
| AI | 4-20mA |
| AO | 4-20mA |
| DI | 24VDC |
| DO | 24VDC |
These are defaults. If your project uses HART, Foundation Fieldbus, or something else, adjust in PLCCreator after import.
Traceability
The CSV header includes the source filename, extraction date, and instrument count. You can trace any I/O point back to the original P&ID.
