Bluebeam P&ID Extraction: Build I/O Lists from Your Desktop

If your day lives in Bluebeam, switching to a browser tab to extract I/O lists is friction you don't need. The Tagsight plugin for Bluebeam Max runs extractions from your desktop.

What it does

• Point it at a local PDF, kick off an extraction
• Watch progress — pages processed, instruments found so far

Setup

Five steps:

1. Grab an API key from your Tagsight dashboard
2. pip install tagsight-mcp
3. export TAGSIGHT_API_KEY=ts_your_key
4. tagsight-mcp
5. Connect from Bluebeam Max

Needs Python 3.10+.

Where this helps

Brownfield audits. You're already flipping through P&IDs in Bluebeam. Extract the I/O list while you're looking at the drawing, cross-reference against your DCS tag database.

MOC reviews. Pull before-and-after P&IDs, extract both, compare the instrument lists. Changes jump out.

Quick I/O counts. Need to know how many analog inputs are on a drawing for a bid? Signal class counts in seconds, no spreadsheet needed.

Security

The plugin only accesses directories you whitelist. All traffic goes through your API key — same auth, same rate limits, same account. Nothing is stored locally.
